The 2015 American Liberty high relief coin is a 24-karat gold coin weighing 1 troy oz. It has a face value of $100 and is the first gold coin to carry such denomination. The 2015 American Liberty high relief coin was first issued and minted by the United States Mint in 2015 and went on sale on the 30th of July the same year. The coin has a maximum authorized limit of 50,000 units.

Design

Justin Kunz designed the obverse side of the coin. His design shows Lady Liberty wearing a laurel wreath holding a torch in her right hand and an American flag in her right hand. This side also has the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “2015”, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the initials of Justin Kunz (JK) and sculptor Phebe Hemphil (PH).

Meanwhile, Paul Balan designed the reverse side of the coin. His design is a beautiful rendition of a flying eagle holding an olive branch on its talons. It is said that the eagle symbolizes freedom. This side also shows the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “1 OZ .9999 FINE GOLD”. It also features the mint mark for West Point “W” and the initials of the designer Paul Balan (PCB) and sculptor Don Everhart (DE).
